You just highlighted exactly why I prefer to write about anthropomorphic dogs than anthropomorphic cats. Dogs rarely hide their true feelings, whereas cats hide them all the time.
Dogs: Pricy house security system, but they work. Sometimes all the time. Because of that peace of mind and not having to use those b.s. protected-by security signs around your hood, there's a savings there.
Cats: Relatively cheaper than dogs, IMO. They tend to keep small rodents and possibly the odd tiny snakes out of the house.
Bonus material: Rumor has it cat litter soaks up spills around the house even if you don't have a cat.
