Putting food in a zipper-equipped plastic bag before freezing is the most effective way to dehydrate it to the extent that it could be used in space. Every trip to Costco ends with an offering for the freezer, in the hope it will sustain us when the apocalypse comes (or has it already?). The irony, of course, is that when the power goes, as it must, we'll be lucky to have anything that's actually edible.

I do so love starting the week off with happy stories. Especially very old happy stories, thank you. It's like finding your past even if having to use a 23-and-me sample to identify and verify you are using a bonafide carboniferous era life form as opposed to a random chunk of ice.

1. Snow? Did you move to Maine?

2. On TikTok but you aren't dancing in your underwear?

3. I wouldn’t want to freeze my chest.

3.a. It’s cold enough in Tennessee already

3.b. I’m taking this medication that—sorry, I’m not on TikTok so you can’t see this; I have to describe it—makes parts of my chest softer and larger, therefore, far less adaptable to the cold.

3.c. Why would anyone—let alone families—dream about freezing chests? It’s not beautiful.

3.d. Well, I do dream about the “panty-dropper” aspect.

4. Oh… I see. But now you’ve lost me with all this “fish stick” and “ham bone” because I’m a vegan.

5. HAHAHA! Ahhh… There’s your underwear! Knew it would show up somewhere.

6. We actually discovered a chest freezer when we moved to this current location, parked just outside the back door and plugged into the exterior outlet. It wasn’t working and we had to pay an exorbitant fee to have someone haul it away. It was holding several cords of wood as well.

So dang funny. We have a basement freezer, and everything you say is true for us, too. We are one frozen lasagne away from being able to defrost it.
