The Sexification of the GOP: Madison Gesiotto Gilbert

I spent seven years of my life studying American politics back in The Normal. It was nothing like this.

It used to be that the scariest thing to come out of the Ohio political scene was J.D. Vance.

And he looks the part: small eyes, bearded (or not. The beard is designed to make him look less like a 15-year-old Dungeons and Dragons aficionado, but his media team seems to have conflicting thoughts about that), pudgy and soft like an evil Build-A-Bear.

Your typical Appalachian Bubba, lab-grown to appeal to the zombie hordes of the Rust Belt.

But there’s something much, much scarier rearing her filtered selfies above the fray, and her name is Madison Gesiotto Gilbert.

A Trump acolyte, Gilbert is raising the bar several notches.

Not as flagrantly cray-cray as Marjorie Taylor Greene and much less trashy than either Lauren Boebert or Kimberly Ann Guilfoyle, she presents a polished professionalism honed by beauty pageants (Miss Ohio USA 2014) and law school (law practice, not so much).

But who needs to practice law when you’re married to former NFL offensive tackle Marcus Gilbert, who made over $32 million during his career in professional sports ball?

And since Mr. Gilbert is black, Madison apparently feels that she can authoritatively make such claims as “abortion is the number one killer of black Americans,” a nugget she picked up at the Washington Times where she was once a columnist.

But is it, really?

Tomorrow I’ll find out whether this Trump sleeper cell and rabid anti-abortionist is the new representative for Ohio’s 13th Congressional District. She’s running against former House Minority Leader, Emilia Sykes, who’s also a Millennial like Gilbert, but with all the add-ons that one likes to see in a leader, like experience, as well as ties to the actual people that government is meant to serve, rather than to country clubs.

I mean, we all know where that’s gotten us.
